Many popular sports
today have small beginnings and this includes nba basketball
history. Who started basketball and why did he invent it? At
what time did the league called the "NBA" begin? Why has
this sport grown as it is known today?
To answer the first
question, knowing nba basketball history must also mean knowing its
creator. Read about James Naismith and how he had to come up with a
game to keep YMCA kids occupied while they are forced to stay indoors
during the cold winters. "Naismith was born in 1861 in Ramsay
Township, near Almonte,
Ontario
in Canada".....
"THE BIRTH OF THE NATIONAL
BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION (NBA) 1946-1950.
It was the end of World War II. Business was booming in North
America - particularly the indoor sports business.
Sports business owners from the northeast had gathered in Toronto
on June 6, 1946, to discuss the opening of a new basketball league to
cater to the public demand of more new sporting attractions. At this time,
the only national basketball league existing was the National Basketball
League (NBL), which operated in the Midwest".....
Basketball was
invented, but it could have just easily gone the other way, a game that no
longer exists and is only in the memory of a few young YMCA kids who were
asked by Naismith to play a game he had imagined. Basketball went
the other way, a huge business, sport, and entertainment enterprise that
fortunately is enjoyed by the fans and at the same time is keeping many
employed. Who should be thanked
for the growth of this game into a
global venue? There are the players, coaches, managers, owners,
sports announcers, the media, the fans and for sure many unsung
individuals who contributed and continue to give to the popularity of this
sport. Go to official site for these categories: Season
