what year was the gateway arch built

What year was the gateway arch built? It wasn't built in only one year; it was built in a span of about three years, from 1963-1965. Construction started in February 12, 1963 and ended in October 28, 1965.

Many problems and situations arise in these kinds of projects and so the fact the Arch and the museum underneath it was finished is a tribute to the spirit of westward expansion, the spirit of American ideals, its strengths, weaknesses, broken treaties, the promise of land and home, freedom to explore, invent and build new lives. This is one way of looking at what the Arch represents. Whatever its meaning is for you, it is a beautiful sight to be enjoyed not only from the exterior but also from the ride to the top where you can see the Mississippi River on one side and the city of St. Louis on the other side.
