facts about mount rushmore include the following:
- The
four Presidents carved on the granite mountainside are from left to
right: George Washington,
Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
- Located
in the Black Hills near the town of Keystone, South Dakota.
- The
sculptor is John Gutzon Borglum, born March 25, 1871 and died March 6, 1941 at the age of
almost seventy years old, only 19 days short of making it to his
official birthday. His
son, Lincoln, managed the completion of the sculpture and had plans to
remove the rock debris beneath but ran out of funding.
Funding came from the government and private donations.
- 400
stone workers carved the mountain.
No one died.

Work
began on August 10, 1927 and ended in 1941, for a span of 14 years but
because of bad weather work was done during only 6 of those years.

Mount
Rushmore bears the name of a New York lawyer who lived in South Dakota
in the 1800s.
